Museum and Field Stations Facility - Infrastructure and Services
The collection facility has a cold space with -80 C freezers for archiving tissue. We are in the process of establishing a DNA library that will archive tissue samples of various taxa of the Indian Subcontinent.
We have advanced microscopes and imaging facilities for taking high resolution stacked images of specimens. A Micro-CT scanner for insect specimen examination used in morphological studies. The scanner is also used for skull morphology and geometric morphometrics.
The Collection facility has a climate controlled space for wet and dry specimen storage.
We provide curation and maintenance of type specimens deposited in the collections facility
We also undertake species identification of invertebrate taxa, amphibians, reptiles, birds and small mammals.
The field stations provide basic infrastructure and accommodation for researchers. Some have basic field laboratories
