Established in 1991, the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), TIFR, conducts cutting-edge interdisciplinary research spanning molecules to ecosystems. Its focus areas include biochemistry, genetics, neurobiology, ecology, and computational biology. Donations to NCBS-TIFR are 100% exempted from income tax for:
(a) corporate bodies under section 35(1)(ii) of Income Tax Act 1961 read with Rule 6 of the Income Tax Rules 1962 as notified vide notification no. 55/2008, F, no. 203/123/2007 ITA-II dated 10/04/2008 in respect of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TlFR), Homi Bhabha Road, Colaba, Mumbai 400005.
(b) individual contributions under Section 80GGA.
