Integrated PhD

Candidates who successfully negotiate the Qualifying Examination must register with the University for a PhD degree on satisfactorily completing their coursework and research work credit requirements by the end of 3 years. A minimum residence period of two years after joining will be required for award of the PhD degree. Any regular Academic member of DBS, ICTS, NCBS or TIFR-H is eligible to be a thesis advisor for a PhD degree. Upon successful completion of PhD degree requirements, I-PhD students will also be awarded an MSc degree. The MSc “class” (1st class = 60% or greater; Distinction =75% or greater) will be computed by a weighted average the grades they obtain during 3 years.
