X-ray crystallography is the technique for determining the three-dimensional atomic resolution structures of molecules, including complex biological macromolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids. BioSAXS is the complimentary technique that gives information on the size and shape of macromolecules in solution that can yield structural information on how biomolecules behave under conditions very similar to the living cell.

The goal of the facility is to provide the necessary infrastructure and support for users to undertake structural studies of biomolecules.

We provide facilities and training for:

  • Crystallization of soluble and membrane proteins

  • Diffraction data collection and data processing

  • Three dimensional structure determination and analysis

  • Small Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS)

Softwares Available for Data Analysis

  • SBGrid suite of programs for X-ray diffraction data

  • ATSAS suite for SAXS
