The Organelle Biology Laboratory (OBL), led by Swadhin Chandra Jana, started at the TIFR-NCBS in the pre-monsoon of 2021. Research in our laboratory focuses on investigating the mechanisms for building, diversity and maintenance of organelles, primarily Cytoskeleton, Centrosome, Cilia (we fondly call them 3Cs) and others, in development, physiological, pathological conditions and ageing in organisms.

The laboratory applies a multifaceted approach (including bio-physics, -chemistry and -informatics, chemical biology, genetics, transcriptomics, proteomics, advanced imaging, electrophysiology and animal behaviour) to investigate our questions of interests.

See the research section for more information of what we do and check out our scientists and students. For available opportunities in our lab visit here!
