Research Interest
My research work focused on understanding the genome wide cross-talk between global regulators, and its effects on gene expression and protein occupancy on the chromosome in Escherichia coli. Though there is extensive in-vitro research carried on the individual regulators, researchers have only recently started looking at the genome wide implications of combinatorial effect of these regulators. We have created null mutant strains of various global regulators, such as CRP, Fis, HNS and adenylate cyclase (cya) as single and in combination with one another. Using genomics approach, we then look at the perturbed transcriptome and genome-wide binding in them and infer the effects caused by the global regulators alone and in combination.
