Workshop on Insect Taxonomy & Identification

About the workshop:
    Insects are the most diverse group of organisms and are found in almost every conceivable habitat on planet earth. They create the biological foundation for all terrestrial ecosystems.
Correct identification of the insects is a prerequisite before using them as a model organisms by the researchers. The taxonomy workshop will expose participants to insect classification and its importance, various insect orders and their principal features for identification. The work shop is mainly aimed at training  researchers engaged in insect related research works and insect systematics.
The course will provide you with an understanding of basic principles of taxonomy, skills in collecting, preparing and curating specimens, and how to accurately identify some common families of major insect orders (Coleopter, Diptera, Lepidoptera, Hemiptera and Hymenoptera), imaging techniques and preparation of illustrations in the laboratory practicals.
