Lecture Series in Advanced Biology 2025

Theme: The Language of Life- Communication across scales

Coordinators:  Atal Vats, Ananya Bandyopadhyay

Date, Time, and Venue: 04th May - 29th June 2025, Every Sunday 10AM to 1PM at NCBS, Bengaluru campus

Brief Introduction:

The 12th edition of the Undergraduate Lecture Series aims to introduce learning of biology through research, in the form of interactive sessions and activities. Led by the PhD and postdoc community of NCBS and inStem, the series is designed to build concepts and foster analytical thinking among undergraduate students.

The theme of this year's lecture series is "The Language of Life", where we will explore communication in various biological scales, ranging from molecules to ecosystems. Communication between participants in the biological processes and its precise coordination and control is crucial for the sustenance of life. Our aim for the series is to understand the experimental approaches for already answered questions and urge students to think about how they can design studies to address open questions in this topic.

The series consists of exciting lectures to provide insights into the topic and encourage the students to think about the same, which will pave a way for their potential future research careers. These lectures will be held every Sunday morning at the NCBS campus. This is best suited for undergraduate students of any discipline with an interest in biology. However, master’s students are encouraged to apply as well. Preference will be given to applicants in their 2nd/3rd year B.Sc., 2nd-4th year B. Tech and 1st year M.Sc. due to limited capacity. Evaluation of applicants will be based on eligibility and their responses in the registration form.
