Faculty at NCBS will undertake both collaborative and individual research projects, utilizing the state-of-the-art infrastructure established through the funding support provided under the program, with a focus on the following priority areas:
- Protein and multi-protein complex structure prediction and design
- Disease Diagnosis
- Drug discovery
- Genomics, proteomics and metabolomics data analysis
- Metagenomic dataset analyses
- Biomechanics of Genetic Material
- Analysis of Biological image datasets
Biology for AI
We envision a future where biological research will feed into designing better AI. Insights from neuroscience and biophysics research can enable AI that is more adaptive, efficient, and capable of handling real-world complexity. We aim to use our expertise in biology to develop new AI tools for:
- Understanding the functioning of the Brain
- Principles of neural computation for AI
- AI/ML for hypothesis generation in neuroscience
- Redundancy in Biological and Artificial Systems
- Learning from Multimodal Experience
