The scientific focus of the Biomedical Modeling School will
be on introducing the school student to the theory and practice
of modeling processes in human disease and physiology with
applications to cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular and respiratory
control systems. The purpose of both the School and the Workshop
is to bring together experts in the scientific disciplines
of mathematics, medicine and physiology, physics and engineering
to develop insights into modeling processes in human disease
and physiology with special emphasis on developing cross disciplinary
collaborations. Courses are designed for Post Doctoral researchers,
PhD and masters students, and established scientists who want
to gain insight into the area of modeling physiological systems.
The talks in the workshop will cover a wider spectrum of mathematical-biology
topics and serve to broaden the scientific perspective of
participating students and help them to develop connections
in new and exciting areas of research.
Participants who register for the school are automatically
included in the workshop (and can present posters or possibly
give a talk) and are provided room and board for the entire
time. This is a great opportunity to learn some theory and
then hear state of the art talks in the areas related to the
courses. There is funding available for approximately 25 participants
in the school part. Funding will cover registration, room,
board and airport pick-up/drop-off. Registration for only
the workshop part of the event is also possible for students,
new researchers and current active researchers. See Registration
for more information.
