Advt No.8/2025 dated 13th February 2025: Appointment of Project Assistant (Drosophila Facility) and Project Associate III (Drosophila facility and Sequencing Facility) at NCBS on fixed term basis
National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) - Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), a premier research invites eligible and interested candidates for appearing in Walk-in for the following posts on a contract basis in research facilities.
The appointment will be a fixed-term position initially for one (1) year and renewable annually subject to the outcome of a performance assessment. The position comes with consolidated pay based on qualification and experience, subject to institutional guidelines.
1. Post: Project Assistant (Drosophila Facility)
Qualification and Experience:
• MSc/MTech Life Science from a recognized University/Institute with aggregate of 55% marks
Desirable: 1 year of appropriate experience
Job Responsibilities:
Following activities should be performed:
• Fly stock maintenance
• Helping the researchers of BLiSc in import/export of fly stocks.
• Helping in generation of transgenic Drosophila cultures
• Other selected activities required from time to time
Number of posts: 1 No
Age limit: 35 years as of 01.01.2025 (subject to relaxation as per GoI norms)
Consolidated salary: Rs.30,000/- per month

2. Post: Project Associate III (Drosophila facility and Sequencing Facility)
Qualification and Experience:
• MSc/MTech Life Science from a recognized University/Institute with aggregate of 55% marks and
• 3-4years appropriate experience
Job Responsibilities:
1) Drosophila facility (01 No)
Following activities should be performed:
• Generation of transgenic and mutant flies
• Fly stock maintenance
• Technology development in Drosophila genetics
• Training the researchers of BLiSc and outside on need by need basis.
• Helping the researchers of BLiSc in import/export of fly stocks.
• Other selected activities required from time to time.
2) Sequencing Facility (01 No)
Following activities should be performed:
• Preparing sample arrangement sheet (SAS) for high-throughput Sanger sequencing PCR followed by sequencing cleanup
• Sanger sequencing results troubleshooting
• General upkeep and day to day maintenance of Sanger Sequencing facility equipments.
• Human cell line authentication and Genotyping using SSR/STR and data analysis
• Analysis of Sanger sequencing data using SDB/innovigene Suite software.
• Updating the existing lab SOPs to increase the day-to-day operational efficiency of Sanger Sequencing Facility.
• Maintaining the records of QC, stock inventory and availability of primers.
• Training the researchers of BLiSc and outside on need-by-need basis.
• Other selected activities required from time to time.
Number of vacancies: 2 Nos (Drosophila facility-1 No. and Sequencing Facility-1 No.)
Age limit: 45 years as of 01.01.2025 (subject to relaxation as per GoI norms)
Consolidated Salary: Rs.50,000/- per month.
