The Bangalore Life Science Cluster (BLiSC) is a pioneering initiative established in 2010 through a Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Atomic Energy and the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. BLiSC was created with a visionary goal to foster collaboration and synergy among premier institutions dedicated to life sciences research. Since its inception, BLiSC has grown to encompass four distinguished institutions – NCBS, DBT-inStem, C-CAMP and TIGS.
BLiSC is looking to appoint a Campus Wellness Officer on fixed term basis. As institutions committed to excellence in fundamental and applied research and to building future leaders in the biological sciences, BLiSC takes mental health and campus wellness as critically important to research culture. Position: Campus Wellness Officer

Age limit: Maximum 55 years as on 01/07/2025
The appointment will be a fixed-term position initially for one (1) year and renewable annually subject to the outcome of a performance assessment. The position comes with consolidated pay based on qualification and experience, subject to institutional guidelines.
Education Qualification: Ph.D./M.Phil/Post Graduate Diploma in the fields of Psychology (Counselling, Clinical Psychology) with at least two years of relevant experience.
Job Description
- Interface with institutional SSC (student support cell): The selected candidate will be an official liaison between students and SSC, clearly articulating student needs in the context of mental health and well-being to the SSC, and vice versa.
- Setting up support networks: The selected candidate will help establish grassroot networks that provide support for personnel. These can be informal (connections amongst batches, amongst those of similar interests, seeding groups with common issues etc.); semi-formal (Peer Connect phone line) or formal (coordinating with counselling service – offered on campus).
- Training Programmes: Establishing training for volunteers to be Peer Connectors.
- Awareness: This is to provide opportunities to different segments of campus to understand some of the issues that many grapple with (identity, mental health, diversity, empowerment).
- Maintaining student confidence and reporting to the SSC about broad as well as specific concerns faced by students on campus.
- Attend emergency cases on campus beyond the working hours and also to advise the Campus Medical Services Committee as and when required.
Required:
- Have training in counselling techniques and/or any therapeutic module.
- Familiarity with the mental health act
- Administrative experience in managing relevant counselling services set-ups.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge and training in health and wellness principles
- Emotional maturity and empathy for others
- Interested in people and human behaviour
- Strict adherence and respect for confidentially
- Training in peer counselling
- Ability to interface with psychologists and psychiatrists
- Ability to understand diverse backgrounds and perspectives
- Experience in psychotherapy of students of residential Institutes of higher learning.
Consolidated Salary: Salary will commensurate with experience and qualification.
