Position: Facility-in-Charge for High Performance Computing
Essential Qualification: Masters in IT, CS, EE, ECE, and related disciplines of Engineering OR Masters in Computer Application (MCA) OR Masters in Computer Science OR PhD in Computer Science
Essential Experience:
Minimum five year hands-on experience in carrying out system administration on a Linux environment.
Experience working with large HPC and centralized storage set-up.
Experience in System Administration/HPC in an educational or research organization of repute is desirable.
Job Responsibilities:
• Be able to design new HPC clusters and keep abreast of the latest technology and hardware in order to facilitate upgradation of current HPC setups for research users.
• Experience in installing and upgrading OS and job schedulers on HPC.
• Working with/Testing open-source applications for HPC cluster maintenance. Manage all related HPC infrastructure including servers, firewalls (IDS/IPS), switches, malware and other software and hardware.
• Installation, configuration, and optimization of research software for novice users in HPC platforms. Experience in integrating new applications and technologies in existing HPC.
• Assist users in utilizing HPC resources efficiently, including job submission, resource allocation, and data management. Collaborate with researchers to understand their computational needs and identify opportunities for performance optimization.
• Profile and analyze HPC workloads to identify bottlenecks and optimize resource utilization.
• Experience in troubleshooting failed jobs and cluster nodes and managing (scratch) disk space in HPC, collaborating with vendors and internal teams as needed.
• Experience in maintaining and verification of periodic data backups.
• In-depth knowledge and experience with VMware, LAN/WAN networks.
• Sound knowledge of Linux OS, Python/Bash/Perl Scripting.
• HPC technologies experience (e.g., Slurm, PBS, SGE), parallel programming frameworks (e.g., MPI, OpenMP, CUDA), and high-performance storage systems.
• Good communication skills to communicate to and train HPC users who maybe new to computing. Prompt and clear responses to users. Willingness to learn and implement optimal use of software related to physical, chemical and biological sciences.
• Develop and deliver training materials and workshops to educate users on HPC technologies and best practices.

Initially, the position will be for a period of one year, further extendable with necessary review.
