National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) - Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), is a premier research institute engaged in research in life sciences across scale. Several research facilities and associated infrastructure helps in providing cutting edge technology and support research.
Online applications are invited for engagement as Engineer Trainee (IT Department) at NCBS. The initial tenure of the trainees will be for a period of one year. In case of extension, the total tenure shall not exceed two years.
Position: Engineer Trainee (IT Department)

Age limit: 28 years as on 01.01.2026
Stipend: Rs.35,000/-
Essential Qualification:
B. Tech./B.E. (Computer Science / Information Technology) from a recognized University / Institute with a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate.
Experience:
Freshers with relevant skills preferred
Nature of work:
• Development and maintenance of web applications using PHP, Drupal/ Wordpress and MySQL.
• Custom module development, theme customization, and content management in Drupal/Wordpress.
• Working in Linux-based environments for development, deployment, and server management.
• Implementation of secure coding practices and basic cybersecurity measures to protect applications and data.
• Handling basic web server configuration, deployment, and performance tuning.
• Debugging, testing, and troubleshooting application issues across development and production environments.
• Integration of third-party APIs and services into web applications.
• Version control and collaborative development using tools like Git.
• Monitoring system performance and ensuring uptime, reliability, and security of applications.
• Basic knowledge of networking concepts relevant to web hosting and application deployment.
• Documentation of code, workflows, and technical processes.

1. The Selection process may consist of written test / skill / trade test. Any change in the recruitment process will be intimated to the candidates in advance. The institute reserves the right not to fill the above post herein advertised in case a suitable candidate is not found. Canvassing in any form shall disqualify the candidate.

3. There is no provision for appointment of the Trainee at NCBS after the completion of training and candidate cannot claim for the same
