Job Description:
A facility manager is needed in the C elegans facility.
The C. elegans facility in NCBS, Bangalore is a well-established, fully functional central facility that provides many services to internal and external research labs that use nematode C. elegans as a model organism. List of Services that are offered through the C. elegans facility are:

Maintaining C. elegans (or other nematode) strains in growing conditions as well as in frozen conditions

Supplying C. elegans culture plates, media, worm specific buffers etc.

Making new transgenic C. elegans strains through germline microinjection.

Making CRISPR/Cas-9-based knockout alleles of C. elegans

Training for new users in regular C. elegans work as well as in generating transgenic C. elegans strains through germline microinjection.

Stereomicroscopy requirements for maintaining C. elegans strains, performing genetic crosses and doing various behavioral assays.

Fluorescent stereomicroscopy requirements for selecting and maintaining fluorescent transgenic strains, as well as analyzing various phenotypes based on fluorescence.

2. Field station manager– (01-No):
Job Description:
In view of the significant expansion of the Ecology and Evolution programme over the last decade, NCBS has developed Field Stations. The aim of this is to carry out field-based research in various fields. This research primarily depends on fieldwork carried out in various biogeographic zones across India coupled with specimens and other related genetic material collected in the field at NCBS. The goal is to streamline field operations, to provide space for long-term archival of important biodiversity-related materials.

Providing taxonomic expertise in the identification of fauna and flora, especially insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals, and plants.

Scientific assistance to various researchers engaged in ecology and evolution studies in NCBS and its close collaborators.
Candidates who have prior experience in the aforementioned areas will be given priority.
