National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) - Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), is a premier research institute engaged in research in life sciences across scale. Several research facilities and associated infrastructure helps in providing cutting edge technology and support research.
NCBS carries out cutting-edge fundamental research across a spectrum of topics in the biological sciences ranging from studies of biomedical research to ecology, evolution, and biodiversity. NCBS has catalyzed several interdisciplinary, novel, collaborative initiatives of relevance to the country. These efforts are led by the meetings office at NCBS. The meetings office has the overall responsibility to foster academic collaboration and exchange through small and large scientific meetings, workshops, conferences, the NCBS Annual talks, talks, and discussions with delegations. The ultimate goal is to help establish long term collaborations/relations with other institutes to further scientific exchange. We are looking for a dynamic person to assist in this effort to continue the centre’s longstanding tradition of fostering cutting-edge and interdisciplinary and collaborative scientific activity to enhance scientific culture for the Indian community at large.
NCBS invites applications from suitable individuals for the position of Assistant Manager, Academic Collaborations and Events on contract basis.
Position: Assistant Manager, Academic Collaborations and Events
Essential Qualifications and Experiences:
• A Master’s degree in the Biological Sciences preferably
• 2 years of experience in organising workshops and meetings, working with scientists and in large teams
Desirable skills & experiences:
• Excellent record keeping, organizational, administrative, and management skills
• Excellent timekeeping, prioritisation skills and attention to detail
• Good social and interpersonal skills to interact with various on campus and off campus event/meeting organisers
• Good written and verbal communications skills (in English), with proven ability to write and copy-edit different types of content for a diverse audience
• Ability to be proactive and work independently as well as in a team
• Capacity to manage different projects simultaneously
• Familiarity with technology and ability to use all relevant software including those for online meetings
• Organizational and some event management experience
• Experience working in diverse team settings
• Willingness to learn and grow
Roles and Responsibilities
• Ensuring smooth logistics before, during, and after an event, ranging from making bookings for events, preparing meeting and visitor agendas, maintaining excellent records, collating information, helping coordinate international visitor approvals, meeting budgets, and liaising with various departments.
• Organizing and ensuring smooth execution of talks/meetings/discussions/brainstorming sessions and workshops on and off campus
• Extensive interfacing with various departments on NCBS campus, other external organisations, and visitors to coordinate event logistics
• The role may involve occasional off-campus travel
• The position will be based in the NCBS Meetings Office under the Manager Academic Collaborations and Events.

Consolidated Salary: Salary will commensurate with experience and qualification

2. The appointment to the above post shall be made on a contract basis initially for a period of six (6) months from the date of joining. The tenure may be extended further up to One (1) year depending upon the performance & requirement.

The Institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates for the recruitment process to a reasonable limit on the basis of qualification and experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement.
