The Centre for Brain and Mind (CBM) is an exciting new scientific venture of the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) and the National Institute for Mental Health & Neurosciences (NIMHANS), supported by the Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies. The CBM will undertake cutting-edge research in the area of human mental illness with the goal of discovering novel and better methods for the diagnosis and clinical management of mental illness. As part of this program CBM will generate and analyze cellular models of human brain development and function using patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and their differentiated derivatives. We are seeking individuals with a strong passion for advancing stem cell based disease model research using a combination of iPSC derived neural tissue and genome editing technologies to participate in this research.
Description: Two Project Associate positions are available for candidates with cell and molecular biology expertise to work in this program. The appointments will be a fixed-term position initially for one (1) year and renewable annually subject to the outcome of a performance assessment. The position comes with consolidated pay based on qualification and experience, subject to institutional guidelines.
Essential qualification: Postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline, with two years of research experience.
Desirable: Experience in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology. Prior experience in stem cell culture would be an added advantage. Enthusiasm to learn, exceptional thoroughness, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills are an advantage. The ability to collaborate with others and work in a team is essential.
Salary: Maximum of Rs. 43,400/- per month.
