SPECIAL RECRUITMENT DRIVE FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES (PWD)
National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) Tata Institute for Fundamental Research (TIFR) a premier research centre under the aegis of Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, invites application from Persons with Disabilities (PWD) for the following post at NCBS, Bangalore.
1 Junior System Administrator - 1(One) Post Reserved for Candidates with Low Vision.
Qualification & Experience:
Essential : B.Sc./ BCA or equivalent with I Class.
Minimum of 2(Two) years experience in Software & Hardware maintenance of
Windows, Linux etc.
Desirable: i. BE (Computer Science) from a reputed University.
ii. Experience in Web Upgrade & maintenance, Network administration & installation.
Pay Band & Grade Pay: PB-2 -Rs. 9300- 34800/- Grade Pay:Rs. 4200/-
Upper Age limit: - 33 years (38 years for SC/ST and 36 years for OBC)

To be eligible for concession/ benefits as a PWD the minimum disability has been prescribed as 40%. The candidates need to attach a copy of certificate from competent authority in the prescribed format, stating the nature and extent of disability.

The posts are tenable at Bangalore but are liable to be transferred to the Institute’s headquarters at Mumbai or any other field Stations. Only those called for interview will be informed of the results and no interim correspondence of any kind will be entertained.

Clerk (A) - 1 (One) Post - Reserved for SC.
Qualification & Experience:
Essential : i. Graduate with 50% marks with knowledge of use of personal computers and its applications.
ii. Typing speed of more than 35 wpm.
iii.1 (One) year experience as a Clerk in administrative matters and correspondence in a large
and reputed organization
Desirable: i. Degree in Commerce or Diploma in Management
ii. Good communication and drafting skills in English.
iii. Knowledge of shorthand with minimum speed of 120 wpm.

Animal Facility Director
The Bangalore BioCluster, composed of the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), the Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine (inStem), and the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP), invites applications from suitable candidates to apply for the position of Animal Facility Director.
Responsibilities:
- To design, establish and run a professionally managed animal facility with a team of experts working under the director.
- To oversee multiple teams - transgenic, veterinarian, and colony maintenance.
- To network and integrate with international animal facilities and experts for continuous growth of the facility to make the facility world class.
- To implement a management plan that includes allocating space and best practice for animal welfare
- To analyze requests for genetic manipulations for relevance and avoid redundancy
- To establish/enforce policies for compliance with relevant oversight agencies to ensure program accreditation
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. Degree in relevant field
- Managerial and team leadership experience, with animal facility supervisory work preferred
- Extensive knowledge of transgenic/gene targeting technologies, ES isolation, culture and analysis, cryopreservation and recovery of embryos and sperm, molecular biology, and animal husbandry
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Prior international networking experience to establish collaborations and utilize existing consortia.
- Detailed familiarity with animal welfare regulation

Start date: April 2, 2012
Tenure: This position is initially for three years, extendable to five based on requirements and performance. Subsequent terms will be for five years with annual reviews.
