People in the lab

Dr. Avik Ray; DBT Post-doc

I am primarily interested in invasion biology and phylogeography. Besides this, I’m also interested in conservation genetics of rare,
endangered plants, gene flow through seed dispersal and pollen movement, crop domestication and community conservation.

Uttara Mendiratta; Research coordinator for Citizen Science

I coordinate the Citizen Science programme that is designed to study the impact of climate change on phenology, using a citizen
science approach. The first project launched under the Citizen Science programme is MigrantWatch that records the timing of
bird migration.

Sumit Sinha; Research assistant

I study brood-parasitism in koel-crow system at Rishi Valley, Chittoor Distt. I am looking into adaptations and counter-adaptations
that hosts and parasites have evolved. I am also looking into cognitive ability and decision making by hosts to differentiate and reject non-self
eggs in their nests.
